Since I am quite free and bo liao at ofc now, I shall blog about these 5 strangely coloured beaches I saw on the net. Unless you're lucky enough to have visited some of the unique shorelines below you'll probably be used to seeing - at best - golden beaches on your travels. In fact a lot of people believe golden sands to be the only option when it comes to beaches. I think it would be cool to visit these 5 places!

1. Punalu'u Beach - Punalu'u Beach is the most visited of the few black sand beaches on Hawaii 's Big Island and the stunningly black sand is actually volcanic rock, deposited as lava and subsequently cooled when met by the ocean. Apparently to take any of the sand home would result in you being cursed by a volcano goddess by the name of Pele.

2. Papakolea Beach- One of only 2 green sand beaches in the world, the truly magnificent sight of Papakolea Beach can be experienced by travelling to Hawaii 's Ka'u district. Again, the unique colour of its sand can be attributed to volcanic activity - specifically, the green hue belongs to the abundance of olivine crystals which have been produced as a result of a nearby cinder cone erupting and eroding.

3. Hyams Beach- You may need to wear your shades when visiting Hyams Beach in New South Wales , Australia , but not just due to the sun. It's not surprising after looking at photos but this sublime stretch of beach is home to the whitest sand in the world, an honour awarded by the Guinness Book of Records.

4. Pfeiffer Beach- The hills surrounding Pfeiffer Beach in Big Sur , California , are rich in Manganese Garnet. A result of this being washed down onto the beach is the colour scheme you can see above - the entire stretch of sand has become a shifting, pink and purple canvas. Although it's probably inedible, I can't help picturing a bowl of Raspberry Ripple ice-cream every time I see it.

5. Kaihalulu- You won't find many beaches elsewhere in the world with sand as red as this one. Kaihalulu, or Red Sand Beach , is situated on the island of Maui and can thank the neighbouring cindercone hill for its intensely deep red appearance.

I am rather pleased with myself. UPS is going to use the program developed by me!! :) A lingering sense of accomplishment engulfs me. Haha. Previously, I thought it would turn out to be merely something very ordinary and insignificant which the company would probably not even take a second look at. Guess I was wrong. And I am happy to be wrong:)

A random thought: I am going to save money to go to Venezuela and the Maldives! Not this hols of course, probably only next year since I have other holiday plans for this coming Dec. I always thought travelling was boring and a chore because I was always travelling with my parents who would make a big fuss over packing and practically everything (only my Mum but that is more than enough). Now I see travelling in a whole new light!

So many things I want to say, but do not exactly know how to pen them down. So I shall end here for now. Perhaps I will have more to update abt next time!

I am confused by blogger as to how to type text in between pictures. In the end I gave up. Haha. Anyway, just came back frm HK. Had so much fun. Disney in LA was better but Disney being Disney, how bad can it get? Haha. We only had 5 hrs to spend there anyway because we woke up late and could only go after lunch! The sun was like a boiler and everyone has been telling me how tan I have become ever since my return. Before going, I had this impression that the 'Madhatter teacups ride" would be rather surreal and romantic. But after taking the ride, I realized the feeling was more of like how to stop yourself from puking and feeling dizzy. Hahaha. Fireworks at night was great apart from the fact that we were swarmed by a whole crowd of civilisation and blocked by this exceptionally tall tree. But overall, it was a rather magical day where I was once again reminded of the existence of mickey and minnie and where alice in wonderland seemed like something factual rather than make-believe.

Oh well. Other than Disneyland, we also went to the Peak, Wax Museum and Ladies Street. So much to do, so little time (4 days). Wax museum was just a mad flashing of cameras all at once. Everyone was like going crazy over taking photos with jacky chan, david beckham, nicole kidman and so on. But I must admit their wax figurines do look extremely real. As for The Peak, it was an extremely steep tram ride up to the highest point in HK where the view was very scenic and picturesque.

Ladies street was normal. Something like a mega Bugis Street. Hmm. There were random street performers everywhere and one of them with a cokatoo (is that how u spell it??) asked me to go take a picture with his bird. I happily obliged but it was a rather scary experience coz i was so afraid the bird would peck me. LOL

Anyway now i'm back and itz back to my boring old internship @ UPS. Big sigh. Life is just a cycle of happiness and sadness. You have to experience the sadness to know what is happiness. If not, happiness would not be happiness. It would just be a usual everyday feeling up to the point that sadness, or any other emotion might just seem appealing to break the monotony. Haha maybe all this is just to comfort myself. Maybe one can be truly happy everyday. Friends you can ignore my randomness.
Day 3: Disneyland! :-)
